FONZ helps Riders to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle & Recover
Safe charging and the longevity of your Powerpack is a number one priority for us at Fonz Moto (your Powerpack is the battery cells and management system powering your vehicle). We hope you treat your Powerpack with the TLC that you would want to receive. Keep it charging in a cool and dry place. If you're lucky enough to be heading on a holiday for 2 weeks or just sadly won't be riding, try to keep your Powerpack stored between 60%-90%.
We asked our team their number one tips and tricks to safely charge your Powerpack to ensure safety, longevity and to avoid any unwanted mishaps.
Don't drain your battery to zero
Don’t let your battery drain to zero, ‘if it does, don't recharge it - contact us!’
- Prashant (Senior Tech)
You can discharge the Powerpack to 0%, however if you do, it needs to be recharged immediately. If not, contact FONZ HQ and we will arrange a state of health assessment.
Plug the charger straight into a wall plug
‘Make sure when charging at home you plug the charger straight into a wall plug. A house wall plug (GPO) is usually 20Amps, the charger requires 10Amps. If you need to use an extension cord make sure it is good quality and holds at least 15Amps to allow leeway and tolerance for the charger’
- Jerome (Engineer)
Use a genuine Fonz Moto charger
‘Make sure you use a genuine Fonz Moto charger.’
- Asheleigh (Operations/Finance)
We have engineered our chargers with top safety and quality materials, so avoid buying dodgy ones and look after your precious vehicle.
Don't use power boards
‘My number one tip is to make sure you don't use power boards, especially dodgy ones!'
- Michelle (CEO)
As Jerome stated charge your Powerpack directly into a wall plug or use a good quality suitable extension cord.
Don't be lazy - charge both your Powerpacks!
‘Try not to be lazy when charging your Powerpacks, try and charge both instead of charging only one all the time’
- Santiago (Tech)
If your FONZ has two Powerpacks, its important to alternate them, so that the Powerpack’s have similar cycles. If they are not balanced the primary charge cable needs to be plugged into the Powerpack with more charge.
Turn your power point off before plugging in
‘Make sure you turn your power point off before connecting the charger, once fully plugged in and connected, then turn your charger on.’
- Ash (Operations)
Read the latest manual
'Make sure you have read the latest Owners Manual and are across all the ins and outs of your vehicle and its charging.'
- Grace (Sales/Marketing)
The latest manual update has all the information you need.
